Mission
The Kohelet Foundation is a private foundation that encourages the healthy development of Jewish identity and the observance of Jewish laws and traditions. To accomplish this goal we:
- promote access to Jewish education at all levels as the path to cultivating a strong Jewish identity;
- ease the financial obstacles to families committed to day school education;
- reinforce the value of family learning to strengthen the impact of Jewish day school education;
- unify the educational messages at school and at home so that Jewish living and learning are fortified;
- and inspire life-long learning and the conviction that as Jews our pursuit of learning, questioning and refining ourselves is never complete.
To that end, the Kohelet Foundation advances Jewish education through:
- KOHELET FELLOWSHIPS - The Kohelet Fellowships program provides incentives to parents of Jewish Day School students who participate in Jewish learning of their own. By encouraging and enriching the parent’s own sense of Jewish identity and access to the wisdom of our rich heritage, we believe that each child’s education and development of their own Jewish identity will be deepened.
- TIPSY - The Tuition Incentive Program for Subsidizing Yiddishkeit initiative. This program is designed to increase attendance at Jewish Day Schools by applying a model that improves affordability and efficiency thereby enhancing the financial stability of these schools. The Foundation selects schools to participate in the TIPSY initiative by invitation only.
